Keep this section at the top.

Is Cassolotl accepting mod nominations?

No. --Cassolotl, Admin (talk) pronouns: they/them 18:23, 23 February 2016 (UTC)

Nominations

These fields should be filled in in order, eg: the admin should not approve before the nominee has consented.

When adding a nomination, add it at the top, above previous nominations.

[CLOSED] Merge proposal

I propose we merge the Mods page with Moderator Guidelines

I did the thing. :)

Propose moving Mod nominations discussion to its own wiki page

Can we move all the content about mod nominations and stuff to its own wiki page? It's not very directly about edits to the Mods page. And if it were on its own page, then it would have its own dedicated talk page. Right now we don't have a talk page for it, hence why I have to write this stuff as a new topic, which is okay but not ideal.

--fallerOfFalls, Extortionist (talk) pronouns: they/them/their/theirs/themself 13:31, 24 February 2016 (UTC)

You mean like:

  • [[Appointing mods]] - everything about how we appoint mods
  • [[Talk:Appointing mods]] - the actual appointing of mods

And then everything here is just about modly responsibilities and stuff?

--Cassolotl, Admin (talk) pronouns: they/them 13:45, 24 February 2016 (UTC)

No, that isn't what I meant. I meant that the the whole of Talk:Mods#Mod_nominations, including the actual appointing of mods should be an article. Any "how we appoint mods" stuff would be part of the same article. The talk page for that article would only be about changes to the layout of the page etc.

--fallerOfFalls, Extortionist (talk) pronouns: they/them/their/theirs/themself 14:10, 24 February 2016 (UTC)

I see! In that case, I am strongly opposed. A wiki article isn't really for long-term discussion topics, a wiki article is for reference information. I don't think nomination of mods belongs on an article page.

--Cassolotl, Admin (talk) pronouns: they/them 14:57, 24 February 2016 (UTC)

I propose an in-between solution. The "content" about appointing mods (Cass's statement about whether nominations are open, and the instructions for filling in the nomination template) move to the section in the main mods article, because that is not discussion but reference information. The nominations themselves stay on the talk page, because I agree with Cassian that they are more like discussion topics than reference information.

-- Jazzable (talk), they/them/their/theirs/themself 19:50, 24 February 2016 (UTC)

I'm now happy to bow to Cassian's greater wiki experience on this matter, or Jay's suggestion if that is favoured by others. Also a question: what happens to this conversation here, when it is concluded? Does it get deleted? if so, who deletes it? who decides? how do we decide whether to delete it?

--fallerOfFalls, Extortionist (talk) pronouns: they/them/their/theirs/themself 00:55, 25 February 2016 (UTC)

Usually what happens is, someone posts a message declaring what the final decision is (or it's clear from the discussion itself), and then maybe it can be marked [CLOSED] in the section title. Eventually it would get archived with the rest of the talk page.
